town of strasburg, VA

town of strasburg,

did you consider:
  1. that leaving a notice at one's doorstep less than a week before paving is to begin may not be the best way to assure that affected citizens are aware of the work?
  2. that the notice may not get to the affected citizen?
  3. that some citizens are out-of-town, sometimes for a long time?
  4. that public streets must never be completely closed to emergency vehicles?
  5. that the town has an obligation to all its citizens to maintain access to homeowners for travel to and from work, scheduled appointments, and wherever they want to go whenever they wish to do so.
  6. that blank spaces for "project manager" and "contact #" isn't informative?
  7. that describing the work as "paving" (only) for three separate locations isn't informative?
  8. that giving the work period for all three separate locations as one week isn't informative?
  9. that outsourcing the public notification to the contractor or anyone else doesn't relieve the town of responsibility of notifying its citizens (as evidenced by the fact that it's on your letterhead)?
  10. that other jurisdictions notify affected citizens well in advance of the work by registered mail or other similar means to assure that they are notified?
  11. that public streets means that streets are owned by the public, not the town?
  12. that public servants means serving the public, not giving orders to and threatening the public?

   - biased news media?

to fix our dysfunctional government is simple and easy--stop voting for  republican and democratic party candidates, including incumbents.

voting for a
republican or a democrat is a vote for their party.

public domain

in the next election--national, state or local--don't vote republicans or democrats. vote for someone who has values like yours. even with their billion dollar donors, if voters don't vote for republicans and democrats, then the republican and democratic parties will shrivel up and die.

nothing will be better for our country.

the same goes for the news media--stop patronizing biased news media that lobby for the republican and democratic parties instead of reporting the news factually and truthfully. they'll go out of business. nothing will be better for the USA.

the wrong stuff

George Washington was a man of integrity who wanted above all else to be seen as a man motivated by the public good and not personal ambitions. His profound integrity in serving the public was the reason people entrusted him with power during the Revolutionary War and the first presidency.

He worked hard to make sure that political differences were addressed through dialogue, not hate and bitterness. On several occasions, he wrote letters to his Cabinet members to stop their in-fighting and quell their party spirit. Washington told Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson, “How unfortunate, and how much is it to be regretted then . . . that internal dissensions should be harrowing and tearing our vitals.” The president wished Jefferson and others to have “more charity” for other opinions and a sense of their own fallibility. He dressed down Alexander Hamilton, telling the Secretary of the Treasury that “differences in political opinions” are expected but should not lead to so much discord.

not trump, not pelosi, not mass shooters, or other criminals. the face of the USA should be someone like Chief Master Sgt. John Gebhardt.

Chief Master Sgt. John Gebhardt cradles a young Iraqi girl as they both sleep in the hospital. The girl's entire family was executed by insurgents. The killers shot her in the head but she survived. The girl received treatment at the U.S. military hospital in Balad, but cries often. According to nurses at the facility, Chief Gebhardt is the only one who can calm down the girl, so he holds her at night while they both sleep in a chair. Chief Gebhardt was assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group at Balad Air Base, Iraq.

out of the mouths of children

don't you think that it's odd that children have become authorities on climate change? without even a college degree in science? that they lecture adults on the failures of adults? and file complaints against countries?

Teen activist Greta Thunberg and 15 other children file complaint against 5 countries over climate crisis | FOX59

what have we come to when we glorify such arrogant behavior by children?

they should be in school listening and studying and learning about science, and respect

of course, given the example of the media, and bad parenting, the actions of these impudent children can be better understood.

like the elevator in the washington monument, the federal government can't get ANYTHING right

The Washington Monument: D.C. landmark elevator breaks down days after reopening - CBS News

"The Washington Monument was closed for three years for renovations to upgrade its security systems and replace its elevator. It reopened for the first time since September 2016 on Thursday."

what's wrong with this picture?

first, let me say that I'm apolitical--I don't like republicans or democrats. here's the question: how come the football game gets cancelled, but thousands skip school on Friday to protest climate change and that's OK? I admit that cheerleaders displaying a political banner at a football game isn't the brightest move in the world, but neither is truancy. C'MON, MAN!!! if one is wrong, then BOTH are wrong.

a century old example of the incredibly poor judgment of some leaders in the catholic church

"On, Nov 13, 1921, a meeting was scheduled here to close the First American Birth Control Conference which saw the public launch of the American Birth Control League, which, in turn, was to become Planned Parenthood. Sanger’s friend Harold Cox was to deliver a speech called ‘The Morality of Birth Control‘, which Sanger authored. He was scheduled to speak after Mary Shaw, founder of the aforementioned Gamut Club. However, to their surprise (though perhaps not total surprise) a squadron of police officers blocked their entrance at the door. After some wrangling, Sanger, Cox, and attendees managed to make their way inside. The police, however, would not allow Cox to speak, dragging him from the stage.

As it turns out, the police claimed to be there at the request of Archbishop Patrick Hayes. They carried Cox and Sanger off to the station followed by a crowd of protesting attendees. As a generator of publicity for her cause, Sanger couldn’t have planned it better. She had long opposed the Catholic church as backward, unscientific, and oppressive of women’s rights, and this debacle, in the eyes of many, proved her point. The American Civil Liberties Union, prominent New Yorkers, and newspapers from all over roundly criticized this trespass on free speech rights. While Hayes was ultimately never found officially responsible, we’ll likely never know for certain whether he did request police intervention. Who knows, it may have been a simple case of ‘Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?’ except, of course, the other way around. Hayes’ friends and sympathizers may have just wanted to help him out by putting a stop to this turbulent woman, at least in his city."

Margaret Sanger NYC Sites, Day 2, Part 2 | Ordinary Philosophy

john 8: 1-11

when will the catholic church learn that "ramming stuff down people's throats", particularly when you've got "dirt on your own hands", doesn't work? it didn't work before and during the protestant reformation, and it hasn't worked since.

barmaid predicts doomsday

'We need to be realistic': AOC predicts Miami won't exist 'in a few years' without Green New Deal

we presume that she knows how to mix drinks. what qualifies a barmaid to be an authority on science-related matters?
answer: nothing

what's happened in this country with STEM--science, technology, engineering, mathematics?

The Decline of American Science and Engineering - American Affairs Journal

it's reached the point where a barmaid, with a degree in international relations, is the self-proclaimed authority on matters of science.

good grief, charlie brown.

who do you trust in matters that involve science, technology, engineering and mathematics?
